Welcome to my portfolio! My name is Rebecca Kovac. As a recent Auburn graduate, I have kept up with almost every event, athletic season and news story that Auburn had to offer. During my job search, I am interested in communication and journalism jobs that will help me showcase my knowledge and passion for reporting and promoting news to the public.

During the Summer of 2022, I had the opportunity to work as a News Intern at The Sand Mountain Reporter in Albertville, Alabama. With this experience, I covered local events and government meetings for publication as well as interviewed local citizens and businesses for stories each week. I was also given the chance to pitch and publish my own stories, which helped me grow as a journalist. Finally, I got to write about high school athletes in the area who were either already competing in college, or who had signed to play at the next level. My time with The Reporter helped me grow in the areas of writing, reporting and researching.

This past year, I volunteered with the Auburn Athletics communications department and filled in at sporting events when they had an opening. Along with this, I was Co-Director of Social Media for the Auburn Jungle (@aujungle), the official page for the Auburn student section. I gained valuable experience with this that I will take with me to the next level.
